Elementary

Signet Christian School is the new name for Scarborough Christian School.

Mission and Vision

At Signet Christian School, our vision and mission is to make a difference in the unique life of every child who is entrusted to our care for their education. Our goal is to provide a positive educational experience in order that all students develop to their fullest potential. Christian love and caring are gifts we give freely to ensure this process. We believe that education should encourage the development of body, mind and spirit, and this development occurs best in an environment where there is safety to nurture for personal growth, encouragement to promote perseverance, praise for worthy achievements, sympathy for disappointments, and respect for everyone.

A Special Invitation

We would invite and encourage you to invest in your child's or perhaps grandchild's education, as an invaluable legacy for them. We in turn will take our responsibility seriously as you entrust your child(ren) to our care.
You are invited to contact our school for details of tuition fees and registration procedures. You are welcome to arrange for a visit, either with or without your child(ren).

Curriculum

We follow the Ontario Ministry of Education curriculum, enhanced with biblical teaching and extracurricular activities. The visual, musical and dramatic arts are well represented with class and school activities. French is part of the curriculum from the junior kingergarten onwards, and English as a Second Language is taught to those students who need it. All grades have access to computer technology.
The kindergarten is available for full day or half day, and throughout the school the class size is small. Our staff are dedicated teachers whose mission is to know and care for every aspect of each child. They are able to engage students individually and provide the interaction and instruction each child needs. In this environment, our teachers, in partnership with parents, can instill the personal and social skills enabling the children to develop into caring and responsible members of their community.

Other Matters of Interest to Parents

Safety and orderliness are always top priorities where our students and staff are concerned, and our policies are designed to support this. The school disciplinary code is clearly outlined in the student handbook. Moreover, adherence to the dress code is mandatory; uniforms must be worn at all times, unless students are notified otherwise by the school.
At Signet Christian School, we are dedicated to maintaining an open, ongoing relationship with the student's home. Throughout the school year, we will keep in contact through newsletters, curriculum nights, and parent-teacher meetings.
As a nonprofit private school, we are able to keep tuition at affordable levels in the hope that we can provide more local families an opportunity to enrol their children. For Canadian taxpayers, we are able to issue a charitable donation receipt for a portion of the tuition fees deemed to be a donation. Family needs are supported through bus services, extended day supervision, and an Annual Education Plan Process with teacher-advisers for students Grades 7 to 12.
